Ladue is an incredible place for making miracles happen, because on January 31st, Ladue Dance Marathon raised over $27,000 for children in local CMN hospitals. The best part of it? I rode along for the entire journey, helping with commercials and advertising and more. But the event was something else. Children with cancer spoke, and Ladue students honored the guests by dancing for four hours.
As a journalist, covering an event is stressful, because you have to get all of your footage all in one day at one time. I had four hours to film the entire event, get all of my interviews, get the appropriate footage, and stand for four hours watching everyone have a merry time. It was fun, but it also was extremely exhausting.
The good: I got seven different interviews. I had so much b-roll to choose from, and I think I told a story pretty well.
The bad: The interviews had a lot of background noise. I couldn't help it; it was a blast-the-music type of event. Also, I should've adjusted the microphone on Michael's interview, but I didn't, because he yells when he talks. It's still cute though.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my video. It's a great cause and a good story, so it deserves to be told.
