Paint your world the way you want to paint it. Life begins with a blank canvas.
I’m typically not a person who likes to explore outside of her comfort zone; I like to have a safety net to fall back on. But with this video, I immediately jumped into it; and it’s probably one of the most riskiest things I’ve ever done. I went into this video with just the mere idea of it - I had no idea how the shots were going to turn out. I know, they could’ve been better, but when engaged in a paint war, it’s a little difficult to find good shots.
The idea of this video is to exhibit how to “color” your life (literally). I chose to color my blank canvas with an explosion of paint, close friends, and a good time. Everyone’s canvas comes about in a different way. Just like the paint, my music explodes and abruptly ends. It’s supposed to signal almost a dreamlike feel to it, like the main character is showing how she would color her canvas. One of my favorite parts of the whole project is the natural sound at the beginning and the end. It’s actual nat sound I recorded myself even though it sounds like a soundtrack - and it really helps distinguish that it was supposed to be a fantasy of how to paint the blank canvas (well, for me, at least).
In the description for the final, it says, “Be different! Use color and light to your advantage.” I personally think I used color in quite a different way.
I’m personally proud of the outcome; it’s unique. It’s better than what I originally filmed for my project, I think. (Referencing my old idea for the project: I am terribly indecisive... I think.)
Thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a great summer!
P.S. Note to anyone who wants to have a paint war - have fun cleaning up.
P.P.S. - It’s still fun.
